After much thought I'm closing this blog. I've spread my interests across too many places so I'm condensing them down into one place: http://sarahamacklin.blogspot.com  You'll still be able to see my art there as well as my crafts and other creative endeavors. Ciao!

A little snippet of my current "cheer me up" soundtrack.

Go ahead and dance. You know you want to. ^_^

Have you people seen this? This will completely change how I work for the better. I must have one!

I am a HUGE Fire Emblem fan/junkie/geek, whatever you want to call me. And when you get a Fire Emblem geek who's also an artist with too much time on their hands you get this: (BTW, Soren's my favorite.)

Here's the next member of the steampunk ladies: A Navajo woman who's a weapons expert.

Now, onto her colors!!

Today is my little girl's 10th birthday so I figured I'd make her an extra special cake to celebrate. I really can't believe where all the time went and all that's happened inbetween. She's really a special girl and my partner in crime. Love you sweetie!!

Yes, that is all cake!! The meatballs are chocolate cake. The sauce is pureed strawberries. The noodles are frosting and the cheese is white chocolate. Thank you Food Network because I wouldn't have been able to make it without you. ^_^

This lady is going to have a few pals to run around with, if I can get my butt in gear and draw them. There's going to be a Native American woman, a West African woman, and a Scottish woman in the "gang." This is going to be fun!

***BTW, I'm still open for sketch commissions! $5 per portrait!

Okay, I'm almost done with this one so I figured I'd post the inks to tide you all over. ^_^

I'm so happy I finally get to show this piece. It was a present for a dear friend and his lovely wife for their wedding. (Checks calendar.) They should be well out into the Carribean by now on their honeymoon. Cheers to the both of you!

I tried my best tonight to do a long, detailed drawing and truly make some art. This is step one. Tomorrow comes the inks.

Hey there folks! I'll be honest. I need a little bit of help from all of my friends and watchers out there. My husband was quite sick most of last month (he's okay now) and while he was out of work I had to use the money for my artist's alley table for AWA to pay for bills. So with that in mind, I'm taking some sketch commissions. Simple, portraits for $5 each. Could you lend a hand?

Examples:

Here are the details:

1) The $5 is for one sketch bust portrait of one character. Any additional sketches or characters will be an additional $5.

2) The character can be either copyrighted or original. If it is original, please include: a)Character name and b) a brief description or a link to a visual reference.

3)Completed sketches will be emailed as a high resolution scan to the commissioner.

4)Please email me your requests with the following information:
Name of DeviantART name
# of portraits wanted
character descriptions/ visual aid links
your email

5) I'm only accepting PAYPAL. I'm sorry. No exceptions.

And that's it! My e-mail is sarah_a_bowman (at) yahoo.com. Just replace the (at) with the proper symbol. I'll email you back with your total and the proper payment info and then all will be go! I'll get them done ASAP!!

Thanks in advance for everyone who's kind enough to help out! I'm telling you. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Peace and love,
Sarah

I have a brand spankin' new lightbox. It's thin and LED lit so no hotspots.

It's really forcing me to improve my linework. I can't wait to use it with my nibs.

Just letting you all know I'm still alive.

I finally was able to order replacement ink for one of my vital skin tone markers and finish a piece. Oh, how good it felt to work in markers again!! Now having that color felt like a finger was broken or something. ^_^

I'm still working on that African Steampunk comic and here are the first character portraits of the main character (the one with the pipe) and a character that'll show up later. I won't mention plot right now, because I'm still working on certain points. Rest assured, it won't take me long.

The top prostitute in the capital city, seer and information broker

And now for something completely different: A random sketch

I just wanted to draw a wierd woman with a wierd weapon.

More art is on the way! Ja-ne!

My cousin's getting married this weekend, but I won't be able to go because it's all the way in Tulsa, Oklahoma. :( I guess I'll spend the weekend on art. Here are a few items from my random doodling.

There is nothing more to say about this than I am such an Avatard. Love Zhao's sideburns. It's a shame he won't have them in the movie.

I'm always thinking up new stories and comic ideas. This is a quick drawing of the main characters from my latest, set in a fictional west african country/kingdom around the Victorian era.

Okay, so this one isn't a doodle but I wanted to get it up on the web somewhere. The inked version of my entry to a friend's contest. I may color it, I may not. Who knows?

My good art buddy is having an "art jam" where all of his friends are making pieces for his upcoming wedding. So here is my first of many contributions.

It's the least I could do for such a good friend. ^_^ It was so much fun to finally do a piece after one of my favorite artists, Alfons Mucha. His work and art nouveau period is part of what inspired me to be a professional artist.

Well, it seems all my buddies are on blogger which... (it pains me to admit it, but) it looks cleaner than livejournal. So.. with that in mind, I'll just chat with everyone over there and make this my new, official art blog.

I do have some artwork to post but that will come tomorrow or monday. Until then, Ciao!
